XB Falcon

It is true that the Mad Max movies created a great worldwide interest in the humble and somewhat obscure Australian Ford Falcon. We know of the cars here in the U.K., and there are many fans in the U.S. who have imported the cars, but it was very nice to find Olivier in France, and his beautiful XB hardtop.

Olivier first saw Mad Max 14 years ago, and like most of us when we first saw it, he was not quite sure what the Falcon was. But, with a bit of research, he started the 12 year dream of owning one of these cars. Actually finding one proved difficult, but the internet has been a definite boon for spanning the world, and with the help of an internet friend in Australia, he tracked this car down.

Olivier was very definite in what he wanted with his car, an XB hardtop with GT specification, in either red or black with a 351ci Cleveland, four speed Top Loader gearbox, 9inch rear axle with four wheel disk brakes, heavy duty suspension, GT dash, no air conditioning and manual steering. And he found it.

The car was shipped in January, 2004, and arrived safely. Quite an exciting moment when the container was opened and he got to see his dream car.

Olivier works in a U.S. Ford dealer in France, so he will be able to keep the car in the wonderful condition that it currently is for a long time to come. Plus, he gets to take it out and drive and enjoy it. And who knows, we may even see it here in the U.K. one day.
